High School Restart Plan

Schools throughout the state of Ohio have been working on plans for a safe and responsible back-to-school season. Students attend CCTC to develop skills and earn credentials to make them ready to work out of high school or prepare them for success. These are skills that require hands-on experience and are difficult to achieve in a remote learning environment. This is why we have been working with the Lawrence County Health Department, the Lawrence County JVSD Teacher’s Association, and the county’s seven school districts to create a plan. Together we have developed a plan that is adaptive to the current state of the virus and safely allows our students to pursue the career goals at the career center.

Below are some of the highlights of the CCTC high school restart plan. You are encouraged to read the full plan by clicking here.

  • As of this posting, the first day of the school year will be Monday, August 24th Monday, August 31st.

  • Student attendance is based on the county’s status as determined by the Ohio Public Health Advisory System.

  1. Yellow: On-Campus - Face to Face Learning

  2. Orange/Red: Site-Based Learning in Labs/Remote Learning for Academics

    1. Seniors report on Mondays, Tuesdays, and alternating Wednesdays

    2. Juniors report on alternating Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays

  3. Purple: Remote Learning

  • All persons entering the building will be subject to temperature screening.

  • Students and staff must wear a mask while in the building. Each student will receive two cloth masks to use at school.

  • Parents and guardians are required to perform wellness checks (as outlined in the plan) before sending students to school.

  • Adjustments have been made to the attendance policy to deal with potential COVID-19 related absences.

  • All visitors to the building must have an appointment (some exceptions apply).

Again, these are highlights from the CCTC high school restart plan. We must remain responsive to any changes in the status of COVID-19; therefore our restart plan is subject to change. Updates are announced on our COVID-19 Blog, social media channels, student email, text alerts, and our all-call system.
