Contact Tracing at CCTC
One frequent question we receive concerns the notification of individuals who may have been in contact with a student or staff member who has tested positive for COVID-19. To protect the privacy of individuals who have tested positive, we are not permitted to release any information that could publicly identify them. Our COVID return plan follows the specific guidelines created by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to operate a school during this time.
The CDC defines a contact as:
Someone who was within 6 feet of an infected person for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period starting from 2 days before illness onset (or, for asymptomatic patients, 2 days prior to test specimen collection) until the time the patient is isolated.
With the Lawrence County Health Department's cooperation, we immediately begin a case investigation and contact tracing once we are made aware that an individual who was in our building has tested positive. This process involves identifying anyone who meets the criteria defined by the CDC guidelines of contact and notifying them as soon as possible.
The safety of our students and staff is always the top priority of the school district. We continue to follow the local, state, and federal guidelines and monitor them for any changes. For more information on our COVID response, please revisit our restart plan and our previous blog post.
